Derbyshire Holiday Cottages in a best-kept Village
Alstonefield is a village in the Peak District National Park located on the border of Staffordshire and Derbyshire. It is located on a limestone plateau 900 feet above sea level among some of the most beautiful parts of the Park. This village with a closely-knit community has won the best kept village awards several times.
Once a thriving market centre (that lost its pre-eminence with the growth of Ashbourne nearby), Alstonefield has several footpaths and lanes from the days of famed annual cattle sales. Many stone buildings in the village date back to the 18th century and even earlier. The St. Peter’s Church located on the south side of the village (away from most eyes) had its origin in the Norman times.
The village has pubs such as The George, formerly a coaching inn and The Watts Russell Arms. An art gallery and a craft shop are nearby. There was once a button factory in Church Street making silk-covered buttons. You can come across other Middle Age structures if you wander around.
It is in this interesting village that the Paddock House Farm Holiday accommodation is located just outside the village heading towards Hulme End on a spacious 35 acre ground. Paddock House Farm Holiday Cottages consists of six stone buildings with varying accommodation (from a private couple to ten persons). All the six cottages together can accommodate a group of 40 persons.
The grounds feature four acres of gardens and a tree-lined drive, and picnic facilities like barbeque and picnic benches. There are also areas where you can play ball games, or walk your dog (Paddock House Farm Holiday Cottages welcomes pets).
The Derbyshire Holiday cottages themselves come with a combo of modern conveniences and old-world remnants. All the cottages are self-catering with fully equipped kitchens and well furnished bedrooms and sitting areas. Some of them have old world structures such as an open coal fire or a large church-style window (opening to great scenic views).
The kitchens are equipped with electric hob and cooker, adequate supply of cutlery and crockery, a dishwasher, and fully fitted cupboards. All cottages have dining areas and a sitting/lounge area with ample seating including a sofa-bed. A combo of TV, DVD, Freesat (Freeview via satellite) and Video complement the comfortable seating.
Bedrooms come with standard size double bed or single beds, pine chest of drawers and wardrobes. A CD alarm-clock radio helps you keep up with your planned engagements. Bathrooms have shower over the bath, washbasins and WC. The cottages also have a fully equipped laundry room.
In short, you get luxury holiday cottage accommodation amidst an old-world environment situated among some of the most scenic views in a national park that is the second most visited national park in the world.
It is not just scenery that you can enjoy during your Paddock House Farm Holiday Cottage vacation. Historic monuments such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and others are within short driving distances, as is the interesting town of Ashbourne.
A Paddock House Farm Holiday Cottages experience is something you should not miss. There are special offers during different times of the year and you can even get luxury at affordable costs.
